Downtown church is a place where guests become friends and friends become family. It is our hope and prayer that new attendees follow a simple path of discipleship: worship, engage, serve.
How We Engage
Worship
At DC, we aim to create an atmosphere where all are free to worship God in Spirit and in truth. It is our prayer that all distractions fall away so our hearts and minds can be transformed by his Word. Corporate Worship happens every Sunday at 10:30am, and Sunday School takes place every Sunday, August - May, at 9:00am.
Engage
We all have the God-given need to be known and loved. We have several Community Groups that meet throughout the Greater Memphis area. Our Ministries offer several gatherings throughout the year. Check out our Event Calendar to learn more. Lastly, Discover (Membership) classes are available three times a year.
Serve
Our goal is to see every single one of our members and regular attendees involved with the efforts and ministries of the church. We believe in stewarding and nourishing each individual’s unique gifts so that the glory of God can shine through our body, our communities, and ultimately our city. Sunday School is 9:00-10:00 every week. Adults and children meet at 430 Vance Avenue. Reach out to sirgregory@downtownchurch.com with any questions!
Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot adjacent to Streets.
Here For You
Worship
When you worship with Downtown, you will find an economically, socially, racially, and culturally diverse congregation joined by the one Father who unites brothers and sisters in Christ. You will be greeted at the door and directed to our children’s nursery or our info table.The nursery is offered during Sunday School and Worship for children not yet in kindergarten. For children who attend worship, crayons and children’s bulletins are available to help them engage with each step of worship. On most Sundays, they will be invited to the front to hear a special word from one of our pastors or our Children’s Director.Our music is a mixture of revised hymns, black gospel and contemporary worship songs. Feel free to dress casually. We look forward to worshiping with you Sunday!
Community Groups
Our Community Groups (CGs) are made up of individuals who are willing to be vulnerable in relationship with others to foster healthy spiritual growth. It is a place where you will be cared for, supported and serve the needs of one another on a regular basis. Our community groups are designed for individuals who are committed to pulling one another along in the faith and freely welcoming those investigating the faith. Discover
(Membership)
To become a member of Downtown you first attend a Discover seminar where you will learn about the central beliefs and mission of Downtown. The Discover seminar is taught by the pastors and is intended to lead you into the life of the church, from its ministries to its mission partners. If you desire to become a member of Downtown and have taken the membership seminar, you will then fill out a membership questionnaire, meet one-on-one with one of the pastors, and be welcomed into our body of believers!
