Richard Rieves, Lead Pastor
Richard is the Lead Pastor of Downtown Church. Richard is married to Rachel and they have three daughters, Whitney Hale, Ashley Powell and Amy Katherine Power. They moved to Memphis from Fort Collins, CO where Richard planted Grace Church PCA. Prior to this, the Rieves spent ten years in Olive Branch, MS planting and pastoring Christ PCA. The Rieves moved back to Memphis to start a new church in downtown Memphis that proclaims the gospel and witnesses its power to reconcile Memphians to Jesus and each other. Richard is a 1983 graduate of CBHS and a 1986 graduate of the University of Memphis. He has his Master of Divinity Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary.
Richard enjoys running, fishing, skiing (on snow or water), grilling and smoking ribs, turkey or just meat in general, college basketball, the beach and lake, duck hunting, good music, mountains, and rivers.
Michael Davis, Teaching Pastor
Michael Davis serves as the Teaching Pastor at Downtown Church. He is married to Serena and they have one son, Michael “MJ” Davis Jr.
In 2013, Michael and his family moved from St. Louis, MO to Memphis, TN to serve as the pastoral intern for Second Presbyterian Church and Downtown Church. It was then that Michael's desire to know and understand multi-ethnic, multi-class, and multi-generational ministry began to grow. In 2014, Michael accepted a call as an Assistant Pastor to Young Adults at Second Presbyterian Church. In 2017, Michael received a call to serve as the Teaching Pastor at Downtown Church. He is passionate about expositional preaching, shepherding and equipping the people of God. He is a pastor that is urgent about gospel ministry that transforms the hearts and lives of individuals that need to be reconciled to God and one another.
Michael holds an M.Div from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He also received a B.S. from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Michael has been deeply involved in several ministries in the city of Memphis. He spends much of his time serving as the board chairman of Advance Memphis.
Michael enjoys sports, photography, BBQ, jazz music, and spending time with his family.
Kathleen Nobbman, Business Administrator
Kathleen is a cornhusker, born and raised in Nebraska. She spent 8 years building a chain of retail clothing stores in Phoenix, AZ while pursuing a degree in Business Management. In 1983, she accepted a job as Regional Marketing Associate for Transamerica Financial Services and later relocated with her family to Los Angeles, CA to serve as Vice President of Product Management until 1992 when her family moved to Collierville, TN. Kathleen spent the 10+ years serving as the Operations Administrator at Second Presbyterian Church and came on staff at Downtown church in October of 2013. Kathleen is the mother of 3 and grandmother of 3. Kathleen is the neighborhood watch coordinator in her community and takes seriously the commandment to “Love your neighbor.” When not at work or spending time with her family you will find her tending to one of the various gardens in her yard.
Erin Cole, Director of Operations
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Erin is a graduate of Germantown High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She is a passionate creative who is trained in operations. She served as the National Director of Conference & Events for 6 years with The Impact Movement, a ministry birthed out of Cru. Before returning to Memphis, she worked as the Service Program Director at Blueprint Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the Founder of Art With Heartbeat, a company that brings creativity to content through the arts. Erin enjoys meeting new people, dark chocolate, anything artistic and spending time with her husband, Mario.
TaWanda Stewart, Nursery Director
Tawanda grew up in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Memphis, Tennessee when she was 13 years old. After graduating high school she knew that she always wanted to work with children and their families so she taught Pre-K for 8 years and currently works full-time as a Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist. Tawanda has earned an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelors in Behavioral Science and a Masters in Educational Leadership. Desiring to use her skills, passion, and love for children and families to better serve the Lord, Tawanda joined the Downtown Church staff as the Nursery Director. She has two amazing children, Te’Varius and Nolan.
Terence Gray, Youth Pastor
Terence is a native Memphian whose faith journey began in high school where he received Christ at the age of 17. He and his bride, Ashley, returned to Memphis in the summer of 2016 after serving as the youth pastor at One Community Church in Dallas, TX. Prior to serving in Texas, Terence was a pastoral resident at Fellowship Memphis, where he cultivated a passion for student ministry in a multiethnic context. He desires to see teenagers develop an authentic faith of their own and realize their potential to be apart of God’s mission. As well, Terence has a passion for music and the arts and uses hip-hop as a form of ministry to reach the next generation. In 2013 he co-founded Mission Muzic Nights a concert series and outreach to the city of Memphis through the arts. Terence currently serves as the Youth Pastor at Downtown Church and is pursuing a Masters of Divinity. He enjoys Grizzlies games, seafood, reading, live music and spending time with his bride, Ashley Gray.
Randi Meyer, Director of Children's Ministry
A Memphis native, Randi is excited God has called her back to ministry in the Bluff City. After their time at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Randi and her husband Josh began a journey around the country. First, Randi interned with Reformed University Fellowship at Northwestern University. Then she ventured to Charlotte, NC to complete her M.A. Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. While in Charlotte, she became the Director of Children and Family Ministries for Christ Central Church. FedEx then took the Meyer family to Dallas where Randi worked in after-school ministry with Behind Every Door. Randi and Josh have two children, George and Margaret (plus their bulldog Rigby). When time allows, Randi loves to be outside, take a nap, read a book, play some instruments, or get crafty.
Adrianna Christmas, Director of Worship
Adrianna Christmas is a vocalist raised in Gary, IN. She obtained her Masters in Arts Administration from the prestigious School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. After falling in love with the students of Stax Music Academy during an internship, Adrianna returned to Memphis 2012 and has worked as the Program Manager, Operations Manager, and now serves as the Director of the Academy. Some of her accomplishments and hobbies include being an alumnus of the IU Soul Revue, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and graduating with various honors. In addition to her administrative duties as the Director, Adrianna teaches middle and high school vocal technique. She looks forward to worshiping God in Spirit and truth each Sunday with her DC family.
Ashley Gray, Women's Ministry Pastoral Resident
Ashley was born in Oklahoma but got to Flower Mound, Texas as fast as she could! She has a heart and passion for united women pursuing truth in Gods Word. Ashley attended University of North Texas where she earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism with a Minor in Psychology and Political Science. She then went on staff with a global campus ministry called Campus Outreach, teaching women about Christ and showing them how to multiply their lives by making disciples. Very soon after she married her husband now of three years, Terence Gray. Ashley transitioned her ministry into high school education teaching AP Literature and Composition and Creative Writing. In Fall 2016 Ashley and Terence returned to Memphis and she continued in Education at Freedom Prep High School teaching Visual Arts. Now she is returning to full time ministry at Downtown as a Pastoral Resident focusing on Women's Ministry.
Yonée Jefferson, Girls Outreach Coordinator
Yonée hails from Mississippi (Hail State!) She went to Mississippi State and graduated in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Religion and teaching ESL. After graduation, she did the SOS Academy where she worked closely with refugees in Memphis at World Relief. She comes to Downtown Church to serve as the Girls Outreach Coordinator. She will work closely with our middle school girls and serve as a partner with Streets Ministries. A few of Yonée's favorite things include books that make her think, goats, board games, and hosting friends and families.
Justice Locke, Youth Intern
Justice Locke is from Columbia, TN. She is a current student at The University of Memphis with a major in Criminal Justice. While in college, Justice has served with Campus Outreach, one of the college ministries on campus, where she has gone on 3 summer projects in different leadership roles and to South Africa with the ministry. Justice served as the president of the pre-law society for two years and has done different service projects for the university. She has interned with the Juvenile court as a probational officer for a semester. She is currently an Emerging leader with Downline Ministries and plans to attend law school next year. Justice loves hanging out with friends, getting to know new people, going to see live music, going to the park/hiking.
