Fall Fish Fry Gifts: September 10, 2017, Downtown Church will host our 2nd Annual Fall Fish Fry! This is a time to invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to hear the Good News, meet new friends and build with old ones. Help us make this event leave a lasting impact on our Downtown community by making a donation towards the cost of food and entertainment. Give online here. Mom’s Bible Study: Join the moms of DC for a 6-week study beginning Friday, August  18 from 10AM-11:30 at 1351 North Parkway Memphis, TN. Bring the kids! We will rotate watching the kids as they play. Andrea Rucker with any questions,

Slip and Slide Cookout! FlipSide kids, youth and parents are invited to a Slip & Slide Kickball Cookout, Saturday, August 12 from 10:30AM-12:30PM. Please bring a side item or dessert to share as we say farewell to the 5th Graders and welcome the new kindergartners. Contact with any questions.  

Kingdom Economics: We invite you to attend a 3-week Bible study series around how to embody God’s economy in our community. What does God’s Kingdom look like in the marketplace? If you own a business, have influence in your workplace, have ever wanted to start a business, or are interested in issues of unemployment and economic disparity, you don’t want to miss this! You will hear from Michael Rhodes and Sarah Lockridge-Steckel as they study God’s Word and share ways to join other DC folk in pursuing God’s economy in Memphis. Classes are August 6th, 20th, & 27th from 8:50-9:50AM at Clayborn Temple. 

Women’s Retreat: Join the women of DC for the Women’s Retreat, Friday, Oct. 27-Sunday, Oct. 29 at Victory Ranch in Bolivar, Tennessee. The  theme “Be Found” comes from Philippians 3. Our speaker is Kori Porter, a member of the Christian Union Faculty at Princeton University. She will lead our study on what it means to put off our idols and be found in Christ and His resurrection. The cost is $160 which includes meals and lodging. Family Worship Sundays are about to rock! Starting in July, our FlipSide kiddos will be helping lead a worship song on the first Sunday of each month. The goal is for the kids to feel connected to the congregation and see that they are an important part of the worship service regardless of their ages. Adrianna will call the kids down front. What a great chance for our kids to lead us in worshiping God together as a congregation! 

Men’s Time (youth): This summer, the young men of DC will be having a special Men’s Time twice a month.  There will be BBQ, fellowship and Bible study on topics relevant to young men. Nursery Needs Volunteers! We have an abundance of wonderful nursery kids, ages 0 to Pre- K. Whether you have previously served in nursery or would like to start, we need your help. Contact for more info.

FlipSide Leaders Needed: Our elementary ministry, FlipSide, still needs a few more leaders on Sunday mornings. Leaders serve one Sunday a month. Contact if you’re interested.

1. Provide your email address by signing the tear off in the bulletin on Sunday mornings & dropping it in the offering plate or by emailing Kathleen. We send out a weekly email update- add to your address book so they don't get caught by spam filters!

2. Serve. Our service teams are always in need of dependable poeple but our service teams are also one of the most effective ways to get to know others in the community of shared interests and tasks. Some of our teams include: Downtown Kids, Worship Team (), and Set Up and Hospitality (Erin).

3. Request an invitation to The City, our online social network that keeps Downtown Church family informed and connected. Request an invite by emailing Kathleen.

4. Read: Divided by Faith, When Helping Hurts, Oneness Embraced, and/or Prodigal God. They can be found on our book table.

5. Attend: Worship, Join a Service Team, Sunday Picnics and join a Community Group!
